From future-focused innovation to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in VFX, our Auckland-based New Zealand studio is where creativity and technology converge. Whether it’s crafting jaw-dropping effects or delivering flawless visual storytelling, we do it all with passion and purpose.
Our journey so far
In 2011, Cause and FX was born out of a simple mantra: let’s make awesome VFX and have a great time doing it. Co-founders Paul Dickson and Greg Flannagan—two Flame artists with boundless creativity—set out to do things differently. They embraced a relaxed but dedicated approach, making up the rules as they went and attracting a crew of like-minded people who thrived in this unique environment.
From humble beginnings, Cause and FX fought to carve out its place in the global VFX world. Our big break came with the show Spartacus, Ash vs Evil Dead, and then The Wilds. From there, we never looked back.
It’s been an incredible adventure. We’ve expanded our studio, weathered tough times, and forged relationships with some of the biggest names in the industry. From Season 1 The Rings of Power, Mr Corman, Midnight at the Pera Palace, to our work on Mosquito Coast, Twisted Metal, and beyond, we’ve delivered VFX magic on international and local productions.
